Three Generations Making Aliyah Together

This family's decision to make Aliyah was driven by the fact that the head of the family, Efim, is unwell.  He is being joined in this step by his wife, Elena, son, Mark, daughter-in-law Ekaterina and grandchildren - Anna and Aaron.    Mark had been asking his parents to make Aliyah already some time ago but something kept stopping them from doing this.  Mark did not want to leave his parents behind and so he waited until they would all go together.

It's not so easy for the family to leave as they have many friends and acquaintances in Russia - spread across the country.  But for Mark it's important to be an Israeli citizen.  Mark experienced anti-semitism when he was at school and his parents say they needed to fight for their nationality.

This family is from Rostov-on-Don in Russia.  They are amongst the first families Ezra has helped leave that city since they opened a base their in the autumn.  Ezra helped the family with the costs of travelling to Moscow to meet the Consul - and they were very grateful.
