Natalia S from Zaporozhe

Three Yrears of War

I'm running away from the war. I can't stand all the horror that's happening anymore!

Our city, Zaporozhe, suffers greatly from enemy shelling. Lately, their terrible bombs, called KAB-500, have been flying towards us. These are large-range aerial bombs, and the Russians say that they are guided. We do not understand where they are directing this terrible weapon of death, but the bombs are falling on residential areas, destroying houses. People are dying en masse, but no one talks about it anymore!

Thank God that my eldest daughter and grandchildren live in Israel. They repatriated at the very beginning of the full-scale war. I am glad that my grandchildren are not in all this horror of human destruction! My youngest son remains here in Zaporozhe. He cannot cross the border because he is of draft age. Because of him, I did not leave earlier, trying to support and help him. But I just can’t stand it anymore!  I am very worried about my son. Firstly, he remains in a dangerous place, and secondly, he can be taken to the army.

I have started having big health problems! My son began to insist that I leave immediately, and I agreed with him this time.

My daughter and grandchildren are waiting for me in Israel. They have already settled in well. My daughter works, my grandchildren go to school. And I want to calm down from stress, improve my health, live a full life, help my daughter, and take care of my grandchildren. Then I plan to find a job that I can do.

When I decided to go to Israel, I immediately contacted Ezra, where I received all the necessary help. They consulted me on the documents, paid for a police clearance certificate, provided financial assistance, took me to a consular check and I received a visa on the first try. But the most vivid moment that will be in my memory forever is the day of departure before the flight to Israel. I called Ezra in advance and told them that I signed up for the flight. The driver said that he would come for me early in the morning, pick me up from home, then I would spend the night in Vinnitsa in a hotel, and the next day with a group of other olim we would go to Moldova for a flight to Israel. Everything went according to the plan, but then, at night, before our departure, there was another shelling of the city, and a rocket hit a neighboring multi-story building. And our house just jumped up on the spot, the windows flew out from the blast wave. My son and I were in a state of shock! At 6am Ezra's driver arrived and found me completely incapable of thinking normally. Thank you very much for supporting and comforting me. He persuaded me to go, although I had already decided to stay and save the apartment, my son. But they calmly and politely explained to me that my son would be able to take care of everything himself, and I needed to leave this place as soon as possible! And after some time I realized that this was very wise advice and the right decision!

I received a complete package of help from you! This is material, physical and moral support. I needed it very much! It is difficult to express in words all the gratitude I feel. You should know that you are doing something wonderful for the Jews, in other words I cannot describe what happened to me after I turned to Ezra. It is a real miracle!
